Where the Roses Grow  
Maria-sama ga Miteru (The Virgin Mary is Watching You) is an anime with a slight yuri overtone, and at first strongly reminded me of Utena with it's emphasis on the student council and rose symbolism. But really it's just about a couple of high school girls growing up in an exclusive Catholic girls school. The main girls of the 'older sister' style mentoring system are featured here. And yes! We used our old friend, the "Utena roses" image!
