(Hopefully, we won't have to, but we have to mention it.)

The First Commandment of Requesting from AR

The very first rule of requesting anything, be it banner, Winamp skin, or wallpaper is this: Always Be Courteous!! Please don't forget that we are doing this for free, getting nothing but a link here or there as payment. (Believe it or not, we love doing this, and we are wildly happy when we get nice people that say please and thank you when we do things for them!) We don't like e-mails that say, "Make me this. Now." No one likes to get ordered around. Ask nice and we'll happily make you what you desire. Be rude and we're sure as hell not going to do our best work on it. Hey, we're only human. (Though StarFire's parents may contest that fact. They insist that she's not really from this planet. -_- Love you too, Mom.) But please, above all, keep this in mind when you're making your request! Please and thank you will get you on our good side. Courteous people are our favorite customers! =^_^=

What can you make for me?

We can make you the following:

*********************************************************************
AR reserves the right to keep copies of ALL requests and make them available to ALL fans on this website. Don't be greedy; our artwork is for everybody!

NOTE: We will only display a blank copy of your banner for download in our Banners section, but we reserve the right to display any complete, un-linked banners we create for you on our samples page to show interested patrons examples of our work.

*********************************************************************

What are the rules for banners?

We make banners for anime / manga, game, seiyuu, or Jpop sites ONLY. We will not, however appealing, make a banner for sites like "Ted's Wonderful World of Cheese!"

Sorry, but at the present time, AR cannot take requests for animated banners.

You have three choices:
  1. Blank Banner - A custom banner with characters/series/idol of your choice, WITHOUT text.
  2. Full Fill-In Banner (Complete Banner) - A custom banner with characters/series/idol of your choice, WITH your site name/URL.
  3. Fill-In Banner - An existing AR banner, WITH your site name/URL added.

Normal-Sized Banners:
400 x 70 pixels or 468 x 60 (Standard sizes for most banner rings.)
400x70 pixel banner
468x60 pixel banner

Button and Mini Banners: 88 x 31 pixels or 200 x 35 pixels.
88x31 pixel button banner
200x35 pixel mini banner

Custom-Sized Banners: Your specification.

General Rules Of Banners:

What are the rules for wallpapers?

We make wallpapers featuring anime / manga characters, game characters, seiyuu, or Jpop idols ONLY. We will not, as cool as they may be, make a wallpaper featuring They Might Be Giants. (Damn.)

If you would like text on your wallpaper, we can add yours or come up with our own. You also have the option of not having any text. We advise that you let us choose whether to add text or not if you don't have something specific you want used.

Like the rest of our wallpapers, all custom-made wallpapers will have the AR logo embossed in a corner. We do our best to put it in an out-of-the-way spot as not to detract from the picture. These logos may not be removed under any circumstances.

Standard wallpaper size: 800 x 600 pixels or 1024x768 pixels (We can also make a wallpaper to fit your particular screen resolution.)

AR's wallpapers are saved in JPEG format. JPEG's are smaller and of better quality than bitmaps. You can always resave the images as bitmaps in any graphics program if you would prefer it in that format.

General Rules For Wallpapers:

What are the rules for Winamp skins?

We make Winamp skins featuring anime / manga characters, game characters, seiyuu, or Jpop idols ONLY. We will not, as much as you might beg, make a Winamp skin featuring you in drag (even if it IS for cosplay). (::ahem:: Sure.)

All of AR's Winamp skins are full skins, meaning skins with equalizers and playlists. We do not have the capabilities for skinning the mini-browser at this time. Because we love the pictures so much, all of our skins have hidden equalizers. However, if you desperately want a visible equalizer, let us know and we'll discuss your request. We also hide the shuffle and repeat buttons for aesthetic purposes. (This can also be negotiated.)

All of AR's Winamp skins are designed to work in Winamp versions 2.81 and LOWER. They will not work in the new Winamp version 3. We are not creating skins for Winamp 3, even by request. If you request a skin, be aware that it will only work correctly if you have Winamp 2.81 or lower installed on your system. (If you don't have it, you can go to Nullsoft's Winamp 2 site to get it.)

If you would like text on your skin, we can add yours or come up with our own. You also have the option of not having any text. Keep in mind that there is little room to work with.

**Because of the nature of Winamp skins, please do not be too specific in your request. Let us play around with the pictures in order to come up with something nice for you. We will work with your pictures and color scheme as best we can.**

General Rules For Skins:

Inappropriate Content

AR will not accept requests whose content may offend other patrons. This means we will not accept requests for creations that offer insult to anyone's race, skin color, sex, sexual preference, or religious beliefs. We will only accept requests for religious based text when it is directly from or related to a specific anime. (Example - Evangelion, Saint Tail, etc.) Please be courteous towards all of our differences.

For information on our nudity / hentai / explicit content guidelines, please see Can you make me something with hentai pictures?.

What information do you need from me?

When you are ready to make your request , please follow these guidelines:

  1. Go to the Request Form and fill in all the required fields.
  2. Do not e-mail Anime Revolution with a request, especially if the form is down. If the form is down, it means that requests are temporarily closed. Don't assume that this means you can just e-mail us and we'll fill your request, because we won't. We do not accept requests via e-mail.
  3. If you leave any required fields blank, or if you try to send in more than one request (even using a sneaky different name or e-mail address), your form(s) will be promptly deleted, with no response from Anime Revolution.
**If you want us to try to use a specific picture or if you want something of a very rare or little-known character, please upload the image to a free server or find one online and include the complete URL in the appropriate field on the form.**

What kind of art do you use?

For anime series, we use anime, manga, and doujinshi art. Anime Revolution does not use FANART in their works unless it is their own, and then only for general pieces - not requests. Please read our policies on artwork on the main page for more information. *NOTE* We will not use doujinshi art for any custom work unless it is specifically requested, or unless you check the "No Preference (Doujinshi allowed)" box under Artwork Type in the field.

For seiyuu and Jpop idols, we will try to find the best photos we can. Keep in mind that some people may be very hard to find pictures for (especially seiyuu), so there is a chance (however slim) that we won't be able to fill your request. It is most helpful for these requests that you include a link to a photo of your requested personality - even if you don't want us to use that image specifically (or if the quality is too poor for us to use) at least then we'll have some basis for comparison just in case we run across a site without English titles for their galleries.

Do I have to give you pictures to use?

If you have a specific picture in mind, we highly suggest that you include the URL to it on the form. We will only replace it if we have a better-quality version or if it is completely unusable. We have a resident picture-fixer-upper ::the Mattousai waves::, so we can usually salvage most images, but sometimes they're just too horribly distorted or small to use. Note that requests submitted using bad-quality images that must be retouched take longer due to the fix-up process.

If we do not know the character you requested, we may e-mail you for a picture. Please do not ask us to go hunting for pictures of a rare or hard-to-find character. We don't have the time.

AR has some rather extensive anime libraries. (Ah! My poor hard-drive!) If you do not have a specific picture in mind, we can choose one for you. We have good taste. Yes, we know that most of our libraries are shoujo, but hey, that's what we like. Anyway, here is the list of our libraries
(all have at least 10 decent-quality pictures suitable for at least Winamp skins, some, like Bishoujo Senshi SailorMoon and Card Captor Sakura, have over 100, many that could be used for wallpapers):

Our Jpop / seiyuu / idol libraries are (all have at least 10 decent-quality pictures suitable for at least Winamp skins, some, like Hamasaki-san and Ogata-sama, have over 100, many that could be used for wallpapers):

If given our choice, we here at AR would do almost everything with manga pictures. Nine times out of ten they're just so much nicer than anime ones. So if you leave the picture decision to us and DON'T want manga, please say so. You won't hurt our feelings. We're tough. (::sniffle::)

Please do not e-mail us with a request for "Samurai X." All such requests will be promptly deleted. (We're big fans of Kenshin. It's not Samurai X, DAMMIT! It's Kenshin forever!!) The same applies to requests for things of "Amara," "Michelle," or "Trista" from the shitty SailorMoon dub, or any of the badly-named characters from The WB's Cardcaptors. -_-

What are your picture specifications?

If you are sending us pictures to use, please make sure that they are large and of good quality! This is especially important for wallpapers. If you send us a crappy-quality picture, your request will look crappy (unless we can wheedle the Mattousai into fixing it up, but he can only do so many things at once...). We can't stress the importance of good quality pictures enough! Good quality pictures have vibrant colors and sharp, crisp lines and (ideally) do not cut off on all sides. On the most part, screenshots are NOT good quality pictures. We can use decent screenshots for banners and maybe skins, but unless you want a collage, screenshots do not make nice wallpapers. Also, the bigger the picture, the better - especially if it needs to be fixed before it can be used. Please do not give us thumbnails and expect us to make wallpapers with them. It ain't happening. If you send us a picture to use and we have a better copy of it, we will use ours. We won't use a completely different image without discussing it with you first. Remember, a better quality image will make a higher quality creation! While the Mattousai is a veritable genius at fixing anime- and CG-style images (we have StarFire for fixing up photos), there are some beyond even his talents or patience to repair. Below is a sample of a bad quality and good quality version of the same image. Remember, the bigger an image, the better!

Bad Quality Image - color bleeding; pixelation; dark, dull cast; blurred linesGood Quality Image - vibrant colors; crisp lines; little pixelation

Can you make me something with hentai pictures?

That's a good question. It depends on your definition of "hentai." At AR, we have a special section called "Ai no Himitsu" (Secrets of Love) which showcases our yaoi, yuri, and hentai (H) wallpapers and skins. This is where we put any of our creations that some people (or their parents) may find objectionable. To be honest, however, most of our works in this section are barely hentai at all. We mainly do same-sex kissing and cuddling, with the occasional tasteful-nudity piece. We will do some "tasteful" shonen-ai and shoujo-ai pieces if requested. Nude pictures also have to be "tasteful," meaning AR decides if it is or not. We WILL NOT do any pieces featuring heavily hentai or "lemon" artwork! (Sorry, no graphic sex or nudity.) If you would like to request something you think is hentai, send us the image link and we'll tell you if it is or not. If you are in doubt about your picture, send the link to us, and we'll make a decision.

**Please do ask us to go looking for nude pictures of anime characters. Most nude images are most likely fanart! We *will* use doujinshi images if you can prove they are from a doujinshi (provide artist name, publication, or other images from the same doujinshi/artist - colored doujinshi covers carry the most weight with us). We WILL NOT use fanart (even really GOOD fanart such as fan-CG or fan-cels)! We will not look for nude doujinshi images either. If you are set on a nude image for your request, please ask us first if we have any from that series. If not, you *must* provide your own image and be able to prove it's not someone's fanart.**

** We reserve the right to reject any requests with content that we deem wholly inappropriate. We're not prudes, but we're not perverts, either!**

The Digimon Amendment

We will not make any explicit yaoi / yuri / H works for you featuring young child characters. We will do very mild works ("romantic" or "cute" works only; no nudity, no fondling, etc.) on request, but we reserve the right to turn down any requests of this nature that we believe are too graphic. Examples of characters we consider "children" are the characters of Digimon, ChibiUsa and Hotaru (SailorMoon), and Sakura and Tomoyo (CCSakura). This rule applies not only to two children on one work, but also any H combination of an older character and child. This especially applies to requests asking to use doujinshi artwork.

How many things can I request at one time?

Okay, here are the RULES; no exceptions - You are allowed ONLY ONE active form submission at a time!!! This means that if you submit us a wallpaper request and then submit a banner request (or if you try to submit two requests on one form), BOTH OF YOUR REQUESTS WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT BEING FILLED. We're very serious about this. Here's the low-down on ordering:

Because of the large number of requests we receive each month you are now allowed either one wallpaper request OR one skin request per month (NOT one of each).

You can only request another creation one month AFTER you receive the pickup notice for your first request. (For banners, a second form request may not be sent until the first has been completely filled and your first request sent to you.) This means that if you request on Sept. 15th and you receive the pickup letter from us on Sept. 28th, you cannot request again until Oct. 28th.

We do keep a written log of all our requests (names, e-mails, and both the received and completed dates, etc.), so we will be able to check our notes. We're sorry we have to do things this way, but we get a lot of requests and we are very busy. Please do not try to trick us into making you more than one creation by submitting second or third requests under a different e-mail address and alias. This is very inconsiderate and it pisses us off. And besides, most of the time we can tell. So let's be nice everyone, and follow the rules. If we catch you, we won't make you anything until we damn well feel like it. We have very elephantine memories - we always remember our trust being violated and our services being abused.

When will my request be finished?

Please don't e-mail us a request and expect it the next day. ChibiCree and the Mattousai actually are working-class Americans and have to go to work. StarFire has two part-time jobs, carpal tunnel problems and a shitty Internet connection (not to mention the computer from the darkest depths of Hell). And our friends insist that we "do" stuff with them, and get "lives." Sorry, but that's how it is. Yeah, sure, we'd love to sit on our asses all day and do this stuff... That's why we all went to school for web design. Anyway, don't expect next-day turnaround. Although we strive to complete your requests in a timely fashion (generally within a week), sometimes it will take more time, and yes, on rare occasions less time. Here's a loose timetable (loose meaning "average" - all numbers depend on how many requests we received before yours) for those of you who must have specific numbers:

AR will e-mail you when your request is complete. Please do not e-mail us asking where your stuff is, unless it's been over a month since you last heard from us. (Even then, gentle reminders go over a hell of a lot better than, "Yo! Stupid retards at AR! Where the hell is my wallpaper?!") Please be patient.

Also, please bear in mind that we are stuck using Hotmail's services and occasionally we DO go over our storage limit (we get quite a few e-mails every day about AR, and many we have to keep for a long time until we can clear them out), causing Hotmail to go on a deleting rampage through our folders. We have had it happen in the past that requests have been deleted before any of us saw them or wrote them down. If you haven't heard from us in over a month, send us a nice e-mail and ask if we received your request (include the name you submitted the request under, as well as the specifications like request type, character, and series). If we didn't see it and it somehow got toasted, we'll let you know and you'll be free to re-send it.

Will you e-mail me my request?

If you requested a banner, AR will e-mail it to you. If you cannot receive attachments on your e-mails, let us know and we will make accommodations for you. Please make sure that you keep some room free in your box until you receive the banner from us - they aren't that big, but if we can't send it, we have no way of telling you it's done.

If you requested a wallpaper or Winamp skin, AR cannot and will not e-mail your requests to you. The files are too big to send over e-mail.

Where do I pick up my request?

AR will maintain a Pickup page in both the wallpaper and Winamp skin sections on which we will post your finished requests. Your pieces will remain on the request page for 2 weeks or so after the completion date. (All right, fine - they'll be there until we bloody well feel like taking them down.) After that they will be moved to either the wallpaper or skin pages, whichever is appropriate. If for some reason you miss downloading your request and we don't repost it on another page, e-mail us for help.

What does AR get out of all this?

Fame and fortune! Nah, but wouldn't that be nice? We get credit and links. If you wish to post something we made for you on your own website, we ask only that you contact us for permission first, and then credit Anime Revolution and provide a link back to our page. We don't think that's too much to ask.

Thanks for reading the AR FAQ! Now you're ready to request your own custom work! Please go fill out the Request Form. (Please remember that if we are not currently taking requests, the page will say so. Do not e-mail a request to us if you receive a "Requesting Closed" page!!)
